The Ministry of Education (MoE) has collaborated with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to launch the 'Greening Capacities Initiative.'
This collaboration is an important aspect of the ministry's comprehensive efforts to achieve the goals specified in the Green Education Partnership Roadmap, all in preparation for the highly anticipated COP28.

ADVANCE CLIMATE EDUCATION INITIATIVE
The 'Greening Capacities Initiative' is intent on accelerating climate education and promoting action among children and youth.
Its principal goal is to provide young minds with the knowledge and tools they need to adapt to and address the challenges posed by climate change.
'Greening Capacities', one of the four main pillars stated in the plan last April, is at the heart of this collaborative endeavor between the MoE and UNICEF. The remaining pillars are 'Greening Learning,' 'Greening Schools,' and 'Greening Communities.'
Through this strategic partnership, both organizations are preparing to launch three critical collaborative programs: Educators Training, Net Zero Heroes, and the Children's Art Competition.
These programs have been carefully created with the overriding purpose of empowering students and educators to negotiate the intricacies of climate change and actively lead to a more environmentally sustainable future.
PARTICIPATION IN CREATING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education's Care and Capacity Building Sector, emphasized the ministry's vision to achieve sustainable development goals that are in sync with the nation's overarching policies and the objectives outlined in the UAE Centennial 2071 agenda.
The Green Education Roadmap and its basic pillars, which aim to integrate sustainability and climate consciousness into the very fabric of the UAE's education system, are practical manifestations of this innovative perspective.
Al Shamsi stressed the critical role that education plays in catalyzing positive change and mitigating the effects of climate change.
