To strengthen management education, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) intends to supervise the management of the undergraduate degree in Business Administration (BBA) in India, in addition to overseeing MBA degrees. The University Grants Commission is currently in charge of the BBA degree. At the Indian Management Conclave, AICTE Chairman TN Sitharam confirmed the development, indicating that revisions are expected to be announced in the handbook for the upcoming academic year. This approach is designed to shorten administrative processes and make admission to postgraduate management programs more accessible to qualified individuals.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) resolved on Saturday to oversee the management of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and to facilitate the transition for students pursuing MBA degrees. The BBA degree is currently managed by the University Grants Commission.

On Saturday, AICTE chairman TN Sitharam revealed the development at the Indian Management Conclave (IMC) in Mumbai at the S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), pledging significant advancements in management education in the following academic years.

Sitharam stated during a review of new-age management education, "AICTE is planning to make changes in technical and management education." AICTE is considering monitoring degree education in management studies very soon, based on institute demands." He also stated that the adjustments will most likely be disclosed in the next academic year's handbook.

Sitharam emphasized the significance of the New Education Policy (NEP) in higher education, saying, "Implementation of NEP is a long process, but once done properly, it will bring major positive changes in India's education system." We are shifting our focus from regulator to facilitator for this deployment." Amit Agnihotri, the founder of IMC and MBA Universe, stated this while presenting a white paper titled 'Pathway for Standalone B-Schools'.

The 'instinct' status of MBA institutes, which will require their conversion to degree-awarding universities, is a key requirement in the white paper. The B-school administration has another request: it wants to convert Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programs into multidisciplinary universities that provide undergraduate degree programs.

The head of the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, Bharat Bhasker, emphasized the difficulties traditional institutions have adjusting to online education and stated that the institute plans to increase its online presence.

A dean from a Mumbai-based B-school commented on Sitharam's statement on the BBA degree program, saying, "This would be a welcome move if it is indeed put into practice." Because it would require approval from a single apex body rather than two distinct ones, it would simplify the admission of high-quality students into postgraduate management programs while also streamlining administrative operations.``
