Description

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education was established by the Government of West Bengal in accordance with the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Act of 1975. This Council serves as the primary authority responsible for managing the 10+2 education system. Its central office is located in Salt Lake, Bidhannagar, Korunamoyee, Kolkata, and it also operates four regional offices.

The Council is a legal entity with continuous existence and an official seal. It has the authority to acquire, possess, and dispose of property, enter into contracts, and undertake all necessary actions as mandated by the Act. The Council can sue and be sued in its own name, and its operations are conducted through a defined organizational structure.

The Council comprises members such as the President, appointed by the State Government, and various ex-officio members including the President of the Board of Secondary Education, the Director of School Education, the Director of Technical Education, and others. Its role involves providing advice to the State Government on matters related to Higher Secondary Education as directed by the State Government. The Council also possesses the authority to oversee, supervise, and regulate Higher Secondary Education in the state.

The Council offers a range of essential services, including:
