Description
Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation traces its roots back to 1981 when the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust was established. Driven by the visionary Founder-Chairman, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, the Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy in Salem was founded in 1982, marking the pioneering entry of Vinayaka Missions into the education sector.
In a significant leap forward, the year 2001 saw Vinayaka Missions achieving the esteemed status of a "Deemed to be University." This recognition, granted by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, and endorsed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, acknowledged the institution's steadfast dedication to academic excellence, adherence to the highest educational standards, and provision of exceptional infrastructure. This milestone heralded the evolution of Vinayaka Missions into Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (VMRF), solidifying its position as the 48th University in India.
Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation encompasses a diverse academic landscape with 13 Colleges and 11 Schools. These include 3 Medical Colleges, 2 Engineering Colleges, 1 Dental College, 1 Pharmacy College, 1 Homeopathy Medical College, 3 Physiotherapy Colleges/Schools, 3 Nursing Colleges, 2 Arts & Science Colleges/Schools, 5 Schools of Allied Health Sciences, and 1 School dedicated to Law, Physical Education, Rehabilitation, and Behavioral Science. With campuses in Salem and Chengalpet Districts in Tamil Nadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry, VMRF stands as a prominent institution in the field of education.
