State Madrassa Education Board, Assam

27

Information

Established : 1994

Country : India

State : Assam

Description

"Once again, in 1994, the Board attained the status of a legally independent and autonomous body through the enactment of the West Assam Board of Madrassa Education Act 1994 (Assam State Act, XXXIX of 1994) within the Assam State legislature. Consequently, the Board now operates with the same educational, administrative, and financial authority, resources, stature, and privileges as enjoyed by other Education Boards, Councils, and similar bodies within the State Government. The Board's activities are regulated by the relevant Acts, regulations, and guidelines outlined by the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrassa Education in the Government of Assam.

The Board's responsibilities extend beyond merely overseeing and managing various types of Madrassas; they also encompass the transformation of these institutions into centers of excellence that are more student-friendly, community-oriented, and accommodating, particularly for minority families. This transformation aims to integrate them as natural contributors to the knowledge society of the 21st century."
