Description
NERIST, short for the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, stands as a prominent institution for science and technology-focused higher education in Nirjuli, Itanagar, within the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Since its establishment in 1984, NERIST has been designated as a deemed-to-be-university, enjoying autonomy and full financial support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India (formerly MHRD). Oversight and governance are entrusted to a Board of Management, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, the eight beneficiary states in the North Eastern region, AICTE, and experts in the field of education. The NERIST Society, led by the state governor of Arunachal Pradesh, functions as the highest authority, with participation from education ministers of all North Eastern States. At the helm of the Board of Management is the Chairman.
NERIST's undergraduate engineering programs boast accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
