NITTE

Nitte (Deemed-to-be University) traces its origins to a group of institutions established by the Nitte Education Trust in 1979. Founded by the esteemed Late Justice KS Hegde, a Supreme Court Judge and Speaker of Lok Sabha, the Trust is dedicated to empowering rural youth through high-quality education and healthcare. With 36 institutions across three campuses in Nitte, Mangalore, and Bangalore, the university offers a diverse range of programs in health professions education, engineering, management, humanities, general education, vocational training, and school/pre-university education.

AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (ABSMIDS), a college under the Nitte Education Trust, was affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences before attaining the status of a "Deemed to be University" on June 4, 2008. Subsequently, in 2009, KS Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS), Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (NUINS), and Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) also became part of the newly formed Deemed-to-be University. Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) was established in 2012, Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER) in 2013, and Nitte Institute of Architecture (NIA) in 2015. In 2021, Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) became the latest addition to the University.

Offering a total of 74 programs in various disciplines, including medicine, allied health sciences, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and audiology, biological sciences, media & communication, and architecture, the University boasts 4600+ students, 575 faculty members, and 2175 support staff. Its campuses, sprawling over 52 acres in Deralakatte-Paneer areas of Mangalore, have garnered accolades, including an A+ Grading in NAAC accreditation in 2021. Consistently ranked in the Top 65-80 rank band in NIRF, the University holds the 401 to 450 Rank Band in the QS Rankings for the Asia Region. Additionally, it has received a Diamond rating in the QS I-Gauge India Ratings. The university's constituent colleges have earned commendable standings in their respective disciplines in the NIRF rankings, with the dental college ranking 5th and pharmacy colleges ranking 46th in 2023 NIRF rankings. The BPharm program of the University is accredited by NBA, and the teaching hospital is accredited by both NABH and NABL.
