Description

Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) holds a distinguished position among India's rural universities, with a legacy spanning decades. Established on June 27, 2008, it stands as a promising institution in the state of Uttar Pradesh, nestled along the banks of the Ganges River. The visionary behind its inception was the first Prime Minister of India, Late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who laid the foundation stone on July 26, 1962, in the village of Rishi Durvasha Ashram, Kotwa-Jamunipur, Dubawal Complex, within his Phulpur constituency in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) District. Sri J. N. Misra, translating Nehru's dream into reality, played a pivotal role with a clear vision and dedication to uplifting rural communities through education.

Today, the campus has evolved into a prominent institution offering professional, technical, and traditional education, catering to the aspirations of youth from both rural and urban backgrounds. The journey began with the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Degree College in 1996, subsequently upgraded to Rajiv Gandhi Post Graduate College from the academic session 2000-01. Eventually, it merged into Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) in 2008-09, following the University Grants Commission's recommendation to the Ministry of Human Resource & Development (now Ministry of Education). The MHRD, through its gazette Notification no. F.9-42/2005-43(A) dated June 27, 2008, conferred the Deemed to be University status upon Nehru Gram Bharati.
