Description
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), established as a statutory body under the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993, officially commenced its operations on August 17, 1995. It was entrusted with a specific mandate to facilitate the systematic and coordinated development of teacher education across India. Its core responsibilities include regulating and upholding the established norms and standards for teacher education.
NCTE's jurisdiction extends across the entire nation, and it comprises various divisions, including four Regional Committees, namely the Northern Regional Council, Eastern Regional Council, Southern Regional Council, and Western Regional Council, all headquartered in New Delhi.
