Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies

Commencing its journey with modest beginnings in 1981, NMIMS has evolved into a globally acclaimed university. Motivated by a sense of social responsibility, the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) recognized the growing demand for management institutes in the country. This realization gave rise to the establishment of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), initially offering a two-year full-time master’s program in management studies. With a humble start featuring four full-time faculty members, 3162 books, and an intake of 40 students, NMIMS set its foundations above Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai.

EVOLUTION AND GROWTH
Transitioning from its temporary location at Bhaidas auditorium, NMIMS has now found its place in a sprawling complex spanning over 5,50,000 sq feet in the heart of Mumbai at Vile Parle. This transformation reflects a significant milestone in NMIMS's journey, marking its presence as a landmark in an affluent suburb of the city.

Built upon this inspiring legacy, NMIMS has grown into a Deemed to be University, encompassing multiple disciplines across various campuses. What initially began as an institute in a small building has gained global recognition through its 17 specialized schools. Boasting over 17,000 students, approximately 750 full-time faculty members, and ten faculty members with prestigious Fulbright Scholarship and Humboldt International Scholarship for post-doctoral researchers, NMIMS stands as one of India's most sought-after academic communities. The university's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research focus, faculty from esteemed national and global institutes, and robust industry linkages have positioned NMIMS among the nation's premier centers for educational excellence and research.
