Description
The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) is an independent government entity responsible for academic administration in Mizoram, India, with authority over education from the elementary to higher secondary levels. It was established in 1975 by the Government of Mizoram, which was then a Union Territory of India, through the Mizoram Board of School Education Act. The MBSE is empowered to oversee, supervise, and govern school education in Mizoram.
One of its principal roles is to design educational programs and conduct examinations, notably the state-level High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations. Starting from 2012, the board has also taken on the responsibility of organizing the State Technical Entrance Examination (STEE), which serves as the gateway for admission to technical courses in fields such as engineering, medicine, veterinary science, pharmacy, nursing, homoeopathy, and dentistry.
