Description

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, situated in Pune 411004, operates as an autonomous body, established in accordance with the Maharashtra Act No. 41 of 1965. This board is responsible for overseeing and conducting the HSC and SSC Examinations within the state of Maharashtra through its nine Divisional Boards located in Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nasik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur, and Ratnagiri.

The Board administers these examinations biannually, with approximately 14 lakh students participating in the HSC main examination and 17 lakh in the SSC main examination. Additionally, around 6 lakh students are expected to appear for the supplementary examinations in both HSC and SSC combined. Across the entire state, there are roughly 21,000 schools offering SSC education and 7,000 Higher Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges providing HSC education.
