Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences

Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences was established with a noble vision: to cultivate professionals and leaders of exceptional academic caliber and unblemished character, instilled with a strong motivation and commitment to serve humanity. The institution embodies the vision of its founders, the late Dr. D. G. S. Dhinakaran, and the present Chancellor, Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.

Originally founded as an Engineering College in 1986, the institution earned autonomous status in 1999 and was later accorded Deemed-to-be University status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its academic excellence. This acknowledgment was granted by the Ministry of Human Resources Development under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, as per the notification no 9-3-2000-U3 dated 23.6.2004 by the Government of India.

Endowed with accreditation from NAAC, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences offers a diverse range of Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Degree programs across various branches, including Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Processing, and Agricultural Sciences. Commencing with a modest enrollment of 180 students, the institution has experienced rapid growth, currently accommodating 8,491 students and employing 452 faculty members across 18 academic departments.
