Description
The JAC, previously recognized as the Jharkhand Intermediate Council (JIC), was first contemplated on November 15, 2000, following the establishment of the state of Jharkhand by the Government of India. It was three years after the formation of Jharkhand that the state legislature passed the Jharkhand Academic Council Act in 2003, leading to the creation of the Jharkhand Academic Council as a government agency. Initially, due to the lack of official accommodations, the agency operated from a rented facility in Rameshwaram, Ranchi. Presently, the JAC has its official headquarters in Gyandeep Campus, Namkum, Ranchi, inaugurated in 2003 by the state's chief minister.
