Description
The primary education board in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, known as JK BOSE (Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education), operates independently under the jurisdiction of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. It is headquartered in both Jammu and Srinagar. This board grants affiliations to over 10,200 schools throughout the region and has a teaching staff of 22,856 educators. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education was officially established by legislation under the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education Act in 1975, with Agha Ashraf Ali serving as its inaugural chairman.
