The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (Deemed to be University) boasts a rich history dating back to 1950 when the Gandhi Vidya Mandir, its parent institution, was established in the midst of the rural and barren desert land of Sardarshahr. Originating with a modest number of students, the institution gradually evolved into a substantial educational entity, offering a comprehensive range of programs from primary to post-doctoral levels.
Enduring various challenges, the institute has weathered ups and downs, ultimately achieving the status of a public university in 2002. It received formal recognition as a Deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Presently, the university stands as a dynamic hub for research and academics, embracing its roots as a value-based institution.
