Garden City University was founded under Karnataka State Act no. 47 of 2013. This act received approval from the Governor of Karnataka on March 26, 2013, and it was officially published in the Karnataka Gazette on April 12, 2013. The University Grants Commission has also included Garden City University in its list of recognized private universities in India, as indicated on its website: http://www.ugc.ac.in.
