Description

The Council of Architecture (COA) was established under the authority of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India and enforced on September 1, 1972. This legislation serves as the framework for the registration of architects, stipulates standards of education, recognized qualifications, and establishes guidelines for the professional conduct of practicing architects.

The core responsibilities of the Council of Architecture include regulating architectural education and the practice of architecture across India. Additionally, it maintains a comprehensive register of architects. To fulfill these duties, the Government of India has formulated rules, and the Council of Architecture has devised regulations, all of which have received the approval of the Government of India in accordance with the Architects Act.
