Description
The Central Council of Indian Medicine, established under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 through a gazette notification extraordinary part (ii) section 3(ii) dated 10.8.71, is a statutory body.
Since its inception in 1971, the Central Council has been actively formulating and implementing various regulations, including curricula and syllabi for Indian Systems of Medicine such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani Tibb, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The inclusion of the Sowa Rigpa System of Medicine in the Central Council of Indian Medicine was formalized in 2012, as per Gazette Notification No. 2345 dated 16.12.2011. Currently, all colleges offering Indian Systems of Medicine are affiliated with different universities in the country, adhering to the minimum standards of education, curricula, and syllabi prescribed by the Central Council.
