Birla Institute of Technology & Science

Established as an all-India Institute for higher education, the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, commonly known as BITS Pilani, is dedicated to the training of young individuals capable and enthusiastic about translating ideas, methods, techniques, and information into tangible actions. The institute is the realization of a vision held by its founder, the late Mr. G.D. Birla, an esteemed industrialist, freedom fighter, and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. Originating in the early 1900s as a modest school, it has evolved into a collection of colleges offering diverse higher education programs, spanning the spectrum from humanities to engineering.

In 1964, these educational entities amalgamated to give rise to a distinctive Indian university of global acclaim, christened the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, commonly referred to as BITS Pilani. Throughout its history, BITS has been committed to delivering top-tier technical education to students from across India, selected solely on the basis of merit. The institute's graduates have made significant contributions worldwide, excelling in various fields such as engineering, science, and commerce. Representing the maturation of Indian technical prowess and a resilient entrepreneurial spirit, particularly rooted in the private sector, BITS is situated in the Vidya Vihar campus, adjacent to the town of Pilani in Rajasthan.
