BSB represents the culmination of numerous dedicated and altruistic efforts spanning several decades, led by distinguished Indologists, statesmen, intellectuals, and educators. Their collective aim was to establish a homegrown and contemporary educational framework in India. Prominent figures in the Indian freedom movement, including Swami Dayananda, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore, and Mahatma Gandhi, shared a common concern. They realized that, as a result of being educated within a system primarily inherited from Macaulay, successive generations of Indians were largely unaware of the rich cultural and knowledge heritage that Bharat had to offer.
