Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research

Established in 1984 by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan, Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) emerged as the pioneer self-financing Engineering College in Tamil Nadu under the aegis of Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust. Subsequently, the trust expanded its educational footprint by founding Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital in 1989. Recognized as a Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in July 2002, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, the institution became part of the newly established Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER).

Under the umbrella of BIHER, the following institutions were integrated:

1. Bharath Medical College and Hospital (BMCH), Chennai
2. Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Chennai
3. Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Chennai
4. Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy
5. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SLIMS), Puducherry
6. BIHER

This consolidation positioned BIHER as a comprehensive educational hub, offering diverse and high-quality education to a global student community of nearly 10,000 individuals. Spanning over 603 acres with 1.3 crore sq.ft of state-of-the-art infrastructure spread across six campuses in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, BIHER is committed to delivering excellence in education. The institution boasts a well-qualified teaching faculty dedicated to imparting knowledge across various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs, guiding students toward academic success.
