Inaugurated in 1993 with a modest cohort of 14 cadets undergoing a Higher National Diploma program in marine engineering, AMET has evolved into a beacon of excellence. As the sole Indian university granted membership in the International Association of Maritime Universities, AMET's journey has been defined by a commitment to quality, knowledge, and unparalleled excellence.

On the 21st of August 2007, AMET achieved a historic milestone by attaining the esteemed status of India's first Maritime Deemed University, marking a pivotal moment in maritime education, training, research, and development.

AMET's legacy as a premier institution extends across diverse disciplines. With a comprehensive array of programs spanning from Diplomas to Doctorates, the university caters to over 3500 students. The faculties encompass Maritime Studies, Engineering and Technology, Advanced Computing Science, Management Studies, Commerce, Life Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Science and Humanities.
